Wedding season is quickly approaching, and brides are busy finalizing their wedding ceremony, planning celebrations with family and friends and, of course, how they will look on their big day. You may have decided on a special occasion outfit that makes you feel stunning, but have you decided on your beauty looks? Have you booked hair and makeup services for yourself and your bridal party? No need to panic. Our StyleSeat Pros are here for with tips to help you prep for your wedding beauty appointments.

There are so many options when it comes to wedding planning. It can be quite overwhelming and easy to become unsure of what you want. You can start by asking yourself one simple question: “What’s the most important to you?” says natural hairstylist Rimmy Sparkles. “Because these pictures are forever.”

What should you look for when researching wedding beauty professionals?

“I recommend clients to see if the artist can replicate whatever look they’re looking for on a skin tone similar to themselves,” says Naomie, makeup artist and owner of Blushed by Naomie. The beauty expert also recommends scanning through their StyleSeat profile to see if their portfolio highlights the style you’re looking for and that they fit your budget. If you’re not too sure where to search for wedding beauty looks? Try wedding magazines, blogs, Pinterest, and the StyleSeat blog to discover your dream look.

What should I share with my hairstylist and makeup artist about my wedding day look?

When you find your perfect Pro for your special day, don’t be afraid to share details of your wedding. The more information you share, the more personalized the experience will be for you. “I’m a visual person, so I always like to see what the dress looks like so that we can create the look that you’re going for,” says Rimmy. “If your shoulders are not out or you’re covered in a lot of different ways, I think certain hairstyles don’t fit. Rimmy also noted other elements of your wedding that should be mentioned, including if your ceremony will take place outdoors or weather predictions based on the season.

When should I book my wedding beauty appointments?

Booking your wedding beauty appointments in advance will not only make you feel accomplished by checking off an item on your to-do list, but it allows you to secure the Pro you believe will make you feel beautiful on your special day. Both StyleSeat professionals recommend that you start scheduling your beauty appointments as soon as you secure your wedding date.

Rimmy and Naomie shared that the best way to see a Pro’s work before your big day is to book a trial appointment. You can even schedule it for your bridal shower, bachelorette party, or engagement photoshoot. That will make it a win-win, as you’ll have a stunning look for an event leading up to the wedding and feel confident in your Pro’s artistry and skills.

What details do I need to share with my Pro about my wedding day schedule?

First, communicate with your Pros on scheduling and who will be getting a service during the day. Hairstylists and makeup artists love getting schedules in advance that include call times and the number of individuals who will need services so they can better plan. Even better if you can provide photos! “I know the schedule that I’m following. I know who my faces are. I can call them by name. I have the telephone numbers down, and if something goes wrong, I don’t have to run to the bride. I can kind of put out the fire myself,” says Naomie.

It is also vital to set expectations with Pros regarding how long you expect them to stay with you on your wedding day. “I think you need to consider whether or not you want to keep your hairstylist all day instead of just that morning with you,” says Rimmy. Why is this important? Makeup Pros charge for additional hours, so it’s essential to compensate fairly for their time and work. In addition, your professional will need to block out the remainder of their day to cater to your beauty needs.

Your big day will be here before you know it, and you will enjoy celebrating your next chapter in life with family and friends while radiating beauty, thanks to our professionals. “Nothing beats grabbing the mirror and saying, ‘1, 2, 3. Look how beautiful you are,’” says Naomie.
